2025 Winter Production
"Twas the Night Before Christmas"

We are SO EXCITED to be gearing up for our fourth annual Winter Production of "'Twas the Night Before Christmas"

Please use this portion of the site for all your recital info!  As always, check your weekly newsletter for the most up-to-date information

Costumes

Measuring and Sizing:

Our staff has been hard at work measuring each dancer to ensure we order them the correct size!

October 27-Oct. 31, dancers will need to try on their costumes either before or after class.  Please visit Miss Bella at the front desk to try on your costume in the dressing rooms.  We will help decide if the fit is correct.  If for some reason it does not, we will take care of any exchanges or alterations.  *Please remember that dance costumes do fit snugly, much like a swimsuit.

After trying on costumes, we will store them for you and hand them out for picture day on November 16th.  After pictures, you will take home your costumes with the exception of any extra pieces that belong to BTC that will stay at the studio.

All female dancers wearing a leotard must provide a pair of light tan tights with their costume. These can be purchased at Releve Dance Shop at the front of the studio.

Excited dancers may want to wear their costumes before the recital! Please take extreme care and do not wear before the recital. If the costume is damaged or stained, we may not be able to provide a replacement. If a replacement can be made, it will need to be purchase for the same price + shipping. We have made any necessary alterations to see that it fits each dancer to be ready for photos, rehearsals, and the big day!

Each dancer will receive their costumes on a hanger in a zippered garmet bag.  It's just another way we try to help keep our costumes in perfect condition for the big day!  These bags are yours to keep as a memento.

Hairpieces will be attached or zipped into the zippered garment bag. Please keep them with the costume at all times, and remember to return them to the safety of the bag after photos or rehearsal so that they are ready for performance!

Costume Care before the performance:

Costumes may need additional steaming, but please do not iron them. We cannot replace damaged or melted costume parts. Costumes may be hung in a steamy bathroom to release any wrinkles prior to photos or performances. If wrinkles persist, using a professional steamer is recommended.

Please write your dancer’s name with a fabric/permanent marker on an inside tag (unless it is being rented), so that if your dancer and costume are separated, they can be happily reunited! As always, written names inside shoes are helpful as well.

Recital Day

All Dancers: Please come dressed in your first costume with a cover-up on (mom or dad's button-up shirt or zip-up jacket works great!)  Bring your shoes in your dance bag.  Bring any additional costumes in your garmet bag.  Hair and make-up should be done before arriving at Memorial.

Extra costume pieces provided by BTC should remain in the dressing rooms after each show. If for some reason the return home with your dancer, please returned pieces to the studio ASAP. We reuse these pieces year after year, so making sure they are returned is very important.

Dancewear, Shoes, & Tights

Releve Dance Shop in the front of the studio has an abundance of dress code supplies in stock! Miss Bella at the front desk can help with all your shoes & tights questions!

Hair, Glasses, & Make-Up

Performance hair is sleek and chic!

All ladies will need hair pulled back off the face. All Stars of Tomorrow classes and Mini Movers will wear hair half up and half down. Ballet I, II, and III/IV will wear a center part, slickback, low bun. All other classes will wear a center part, slickback, low ponytail.

Hair, make-up, tights, headpieces, and costumes are part of a uniform standard for dancers. Make sure that ALL PIECES of your costume are with you for performances.

Underwear is not allowed on stage with leotards or costumes with built in leotards.  The leotard fits like a swim suit and has built in underwear.  To ensure we don't have any accidental underwear showing, dancers must wear tights and leotard/costume only.

We value childhood and value makeup that is age-appropriate. Because the stage lighting washes out faces your dancer (both boys and girls) will need a little skin-toned powder or foundation, blush, and red or deep pink-toned lipstick. Mascara and a little liner bring out those beautiful eyes.

Do: Apply stage makeup with a little warm foundation to keep faces from fading under bright lights, with deep pink or red tone lipstick and blush on the cheekbone. Use a light nude or ivory shadow across the lid and a darker brown tone in the crease. Mascara and a bit of eyeliner will draw out eyes for a finishing touch!

Avoid: Peach/brown tones in lipstick and blush. Due to lighting glare, please do not wear glasses onstage unless necessary. Nail polish, loose glitter, or jewelry can be very distracting to both the audience and the dancer, so please remove all of these before performance.  Hair glitter is not allowed for the safety of the dancers. If a dancer has permanent jewelry, we request you put skin-toned foam underwrap on top of the jewelry. If a dancer has fresh earring that cannot be removed, please cover with compression tape or skin-toned bandaids so that both the front and back of the earring is covere.
